Tattoo Aftercare 101
Here's a recap on what you need to know about tattoo aftercare. You can always check back here if you have questions, or reach out!

Removing your SecondSkin™ Bandage
-
Peel up the corner or edge of the SecondSkin™ bandage.
-
Slowly remove the bandage by pulling it out away from the tattoo. Think of it like removing a 3M strip from a wall; you want to pull it away to prevent as much damage to the wall as possible. Here's a quick demo to check out!
-
Hold your skin taut as you remove the film for an easier, smoother process.

What to Expect & Additional Care
-
Plasma buildup under the SecondSkin™ in the first 24 hours is completely normal. So long as the edges are all sealed, leave the Second Skin on as long as you can, up to 7 days.
-
Mild redness around the bandage area (especially on un-tattooed skin) is common with medical adhesives.
-
If you develop any adverse reaction on the tattoo itself, discontinue use immediately and contact me asap.
Once you remove your SecondSkin™ bandage, keep your tattoo clean and start applying aftercare cream as needed.

10 DAY ROUTINE
Tattoo Aftercare
Note: Wash your hands before applying any cleanser or lotion to your tattoo or surrounding area.
🫧 Unscented Cleanser/Soap
-
Use a gentle foaming cleanser on your tattoo in the shower or on dry skin.
-
Massage it into the area lightly and rinse with lukewarm water twice per day before applying cream.
-
Avoid scrubbing—be gentle to keep your tattoo looking its best!
💧Unscented Lotion
-
Apply a thin layer of UNSCENTED lotion to your tattoo twice per day and gently massage it into the skin.
-
The goal is just enough to prevent dryness, but not too much to suffocate the skin. Think of it like watering a plant - overwatering can be just as damaging as underwatering.
🌤️ Limit Sun Exposure & Apply SPF
Limiting sun exposure in the first 10 days to prevent causing additional damage to the healing wound. Once healed, apply SPF regularly to prevent excessive fading/aging.
🌊 Do not submerge in bodies of water/baths for 10-14 days
Submerging a new tattoo in bodies of water can introduce bacteria, increase the risk of infection, and disrupt the healing process.
